A New Commitment

By Ron Boutwell

Number of players:       3

Play length:                   25 minuets

A traditional Christian performance begins, but is interrupted as one of the actors challenges the message of the play, claiming he can no longer present ideas that he does not believe. The others persuade him to continue.  The result challenges us all to justify our beliefs in a world where many Christians’ lifestyles contradict that which they profess.  In the end, the unbelieving actor is led to Christ. This one-act, designed to be staged in a sanctuary setting, is an effective tool for winning the lost.

Wonderful World

By Ron Boutwell

Number of players:       3 Males & 2 Females

Play length:                   1 hour

In this thought-provoking, humorous look at life, the audience is taken into a strange world. They soon discover that the characters in this world represent a journey through life. We follow Paul through this world as he meets four delightful people who take him through life’s adventures—education & career, love & marriage, darkness & light. But he discovers that all life has to offer is not enough; there is still something missing. Paul’s discovery that what is missing in his life is Jesus Christ is the climax of this inspiring look at God’s Wonderful World.

Through Stained Glass Windows

By Ron Boutwell

Number of players:       5-15

Play length:                   25 minuets (Also made into Full-length play)

Not for those who wish to remain comfortable in their Christianity. This collection of sketches takes a good, hard look at the church, its attitudes and prejudices, through the eyes of the world.  Not always pretty, not always pleasant, this play calls Christians to evaluate their lives and service. A challenge to all that we must take Christ to the people in the way we live, the way we talk, the way we treat one another, or we can continue to let the whole world perish as we all watch through stained glass windows.

IN HIS STEPS

Based on Charles M. Sheldon’s Best-Selling Novel

Adapted for the Stage by Ron Laws

Number of players:       6 Males, 9 Females & various chorus members

What would Jesus do if He were faced with the pressures of editing a daily newspaper? What would He do with a promising singing career? What would He do if His family ridiculed Him for His beliefs? What would Jesus do? Charles Sheldon asked that question over a one hundred years ago in his classic novel, IN HIS STEPS.  This dramatic and inspiring adaptation of Sheldon's book follows several members of the First Church of Raymond as they take a pledge to do everything in their lives after asking the question, "What would Jesus do?" This timeless and challenging story of true discipleship is the most widely-read religious novel of all time and still stands today as a call for all Believers to walk in the footsteps of their Maker.

Casper ten Boom and his daughters, Corrie and Betsie, live above their century-old clock shop in Holland . After Nazi forces invade and occupy their country, they risk all they have, including their lives, to shelter Jews from capture and almost-certain death.  Eventually, they are arrested and sent to concentration camps. Their story of the power of love to overcome hatred has touched millions the world over.

“It is not enough to have a song on your lips.  You must also have a song in your heart.” Most people held no hope for Fanny Crosby, the little blind girl. Through tragedy and triumph, Fanny Crosby learned to minister to others not from her own heart, but from the heart of God. Choosing to live in virtual poverty in order to reach the lost, there wasn’t anyone she couldn’t touch—and few whom she didn’t.
